Introduction
I am an experienced dog owner, but I currently do not have a dog of my own.
I would look after your dog in my own home, (there are no kennels outside), and your dog will have the run of the house.
Whilst your dog is here in my care he will be a part of my family and will be loved and cared for as if he were my own.
Your dog will not be left alone for more than a few hours and such periods will be rare as we are both retired.
Your dog will have the company of a dog lover and should be happier than if placed in kennels.
I will only be looking after your dog whilst he is here, no one else can book the same weeks as you.
Wherever possible, I will follow the routine that your dog is used to.
I am licensed with Calderdale MBC and have run Auntie Jennie's since 2006.
How do we start?
I need to meet up with you and your dog before you book for the first time, so that your dog can familiarize himself with both myself and my home, and you can see where he will be living whilst you are away. All we need is a short visit when I can give you a booking form ready for his visit.

What’s next?
You will need to fill in a booking form which gives me details of your dogs requirements, routines and habits.
The bill should then be paid on arrival.
I accept cheques or cash.
What do you need to bring with your dog?
You will need to bring your dog’s bed, lead, favourite toys, chews and of course his food.
I have doggy towels and poo bags here.
I have food bowls, brushes and combs here for grooming (which I love doing),
but if you prefer your own to be used that is fine.
I will need veterinary vaccination records here whilst your dog is staying with me.
How will your dog be exercised?
I will walk your dog on a lead, (unless you say otherwise) and we go sometimes through the fields (part of Calderdale Way) or sometimes we walk on a quiet part of the roadway.

I believe they need a mixture of soft and hard walking.
I will walk your dog a minimum of twice a day for 20 minutes each walk but if your dog needs longer that is fine by me and if he cannot manage that long I will accommodate that too.
He will have access to an enclosed and secure garden at any time.
I will spend play times with all dogs in my care and make sure they are entertained and happy.
What happens if your dog is taken ill during his stay?
If your dog becomes unwell, I will take him to your usual vet, if it is within reasonable travelling distance.
If not, he will be taken to West Mount Veterinary Surgery, Pellon Lane, Halifax.
You will be asked to reimburse any vets fees on your return home.

You must ring your vet to inform them that your dog is staying with us so that they are aware that we are the dog's temporary guardian.
Restrictions
Unfortunately I cannot take in dogs with aggressive tendencies, dogs which are uncontrollable,
dogs that chew furniture or incontinent dogs.
I also cannot take in bitches which are in season or due to come into season during their stay with me.
Vaccinations
Normally, I would ask that your dog is vaccinated, but if there is any medical or allergy reason why your dog cannot be vaccinated, then please discuss this with me.
Your dog should have been wormed and had a flea treatment prior to his stay here.PRICES 2023

Boarding rates apply to
day of arrival and for the day of departure.

Normally I am unable to book one/two day bookings in any weeks during the months of June-July-August due to the high demand of week long bookings.

I would recommend that you book early as, although I am willing to take short notice bookings,
I cannot guarantee that I will be able to.
